Never Trust an Economist
I have absolutely no excuse for this one, because my parents laid out a great deal of money so that I could get a degree in economics from an exceptionally good school. The Japanese yen was at an all-time low – just over 100 to the dollar. That translates to $6 apples at the grocery story and a cost of living in Tokyo that was 60% higher than New York City.

My life savings – accumulated over twelve years of living in attics and never eating out and changing my own oil – were on the line. Even if I could scrape by for an entire year in Japan on rice and tofu, would there be enough left over for post production?
