Transportation: bicycle, motorbike, train, bus, hitch-hiking, truck, water-buffalo, horse, fastboat, plane, outrigger, canoe, hiking.

Small Companions: mosquitoes, bedbugs, spiders, ants, bees, mites, fleas, stinging centipedes.

Large Companions: (1) rugged Alaskan, (1) handsome German, (1) 22" unfriendly eagle, (4) leopard kittens, and (1) infant endangered gibbon.

Stolen: one glove, a bottle of shampoo, a liter of gasoline.

Consumed: 429 bowls of soup, 8 pounds of weeds, endless green tea.

Purchased: 23 uncut rubies.

Injuries and illnesses: 1 punji stake impalement, anemia, giardia, scurvy, assorted motorcycle burns, split ends.

14 arrests (2 in Cambodia).

1 expulsion (from Vietnam).

4 haircuts (28 cents each).

113 hours on the train
